My name is Debbie McKenna and I am a RVN. I started volunteering when I was 15 on Saturday mornings in a veterinary clinic close to home. I then went on to complete my Veterinary Care Assistant certificate with this clinic. I started my Level 3 Veterinary Nursing Diploma in 2013 at Greenmount Campus and I gained my qualification in 2016. I started working at Glenburn Veterinary Surgeons in October 2016 and split my time between the Crumlin and Lisburn branches.
My interests are dental care, bandaging, weight management and anaesthesia. I wanted to further my knowledge on anaesthesia and so I achieved my NCERT in Anaesthesia in June 2021. I love carrying out the weight clinics and seeing the difference in each animal each time.
I have a cat called Binx and he truly is a unique individual. He has FELV and so has to be an indoor cat separated from other cats as it’s contagious. To give him a change of scenery I will take him out on the lead in the confines of my own garden which he loves.
Outside of work I like socialising with friends, going to the cinema and cross stitching which I find very relaxing.
